Special Features – Creativity, Nature & Cultural Diversity
At Blueberry Hill, every day is filled with special experiences that nurture creativity, a connection to nature, and cultural awareness.
International Week – Discovering and Celebrating the World
A highlight at Blueberry Hill is our International Week, held once a year. This intercultural project is much more than just a celebration – it is an exciting journey where children explore the rich diversity of our world in a playful way.
How Does International Week Work?
Each year, we choose a country together with the children. Over the next month, we immerse ourselves in its culture, language, traditions, and cuisine. Using books, arts and crafts, music, and culinary experiences, we make learning fun and interactive.
The Three Phases of International Week:
- Three Weeks of Exploration: Children engage in activities related to the chosen country – from learning about flags and traditional clothing to tasting local delicacies like Peruvian empanadas or Turkish baklava.
- One Week of Celebration: The project culminates in a festival where we sing, dance, play games, and enjoy traditional foods.
- A Month of Immersion: Throughout the period, we integrate cultural elements into daily activities, helping children build a meaningful connection to the country and its traditions.
Why Is This Important?
International Week broadens children’s horizons and fosters a deep appreciation for different cultures. They learn openness, curiosity, and tolerance, gaining valuable skills for a globalized world.
By the end of the project, our children can confidently answer:
- What does the flag of Chile look like?
- What languages are spoken there?
- How does Peruvian food taste?
This immersive experience leaves a lasting impact, making cultural learning both memorable and fun.
Nature Education – Learning with All Senses
At Blueberry Hill, children spend time outdoors every day in our large garden. Whether they are planting, observing, or exploring, nature offers endless learning opportunities.
Through hands-on gardening projects, children learn:
- Ecological awareness – understanding how nature works
- Responsibility – caring for plants and animals
- Sustainability – recognizing the importance of protecting the environment
Examples of Nature Activities:
- Building insect hotels
- Planting vegetables and flowers
- Exploring wildlife and seasonal changes
These experiences connect children with the natural world and spark curiosity about how they can help protect it.
